Experience
I have 9 years of teaching experience. My first 8 years were in middle school. Many teachers view 7th grade as a crazy, transitional year. I, however, loved teaching these active, transitional kids! Their challenges just allowed for creative answers. This year, I have taken on the challenge of high school students. Coming to high school has been a change, offering a different perspective on education. These kids are preparing not only for the standardized test, but life after school. It is my job t make sure they can succeed in both arenas. I have taught all levels of students; gifted, non-English speaking, Special Ed, above, on, and below grade level students. I have a certain knack for tutoring students who are struggling learners and am very successful due to the relationships I develop with these kids. I have tutored students in EOC Reading and Writing who were in danger of not graduating. The particular school where I tutored requested that I come back the following year, due to my success rate. Additionally, I have several years of experience tutoring both in the public schools I taught at as well as privately, in the home.

Hobbies
Teaching is my passion. That moment a student understand a concept is what drive me! I build my entire pedagogy around the concept of respect, because you cannot teach well if you do not establish a relationship with students. I like to do a lot of creative projects and text sets that combine multiple skills and allow students to show mastery outside of just a multiple choice test. However, because the multiple choice test is the age we live in, and that my background is in curriculum and instruction, I make sure my instruction not only aligns with the standards, but I utilize question stems that mirror the standardized tests your child is required to take.
